Overview

Serre Chevalier is located in the Alps close to the French-Italian boarder. The valley consists of four villages - Briançon, St Chaffrey Chantemerle, Le Salle les Alpes Villeneuve and Le Monêtier les Bains. The most famous of the villages is Briançon with it's historic fortified walls and architecture which date back 300 years. The villages are in a beautiful location with trees all around and other wonderful scenery. This is particularly scenic during the winter months after a fresh layer of snow.

To get to the resort you could fly into Turin or Grenoble. An alternative way would be to drive from the UK through one of our self-drive holiday packages which includes the Eurostar across the channel.

3 Things We Love About Serre Chevalier

  1. Often considered the hidden gem of the southern French Alps.
  2. It has of some of the best lift access, with both a gondola and a cable-car to whisk you up the mountains.
  3. Serre Chevalier is a rustic mountain region with an interesting mix of unique buildings spread out along the valley.

Skiing and Boarding in Serre Chevalier

Serre Chevalier offers 410 hectares (250km) of ski area which will be more than enough for most skiers and snowboarders. The runs cover a range of levels including 13 green, 26 blue, 29 red and 13 black.

A third of the ski area is also supported by snowmaking machines meaning no matter what the weather and conditions you should always have plenty of the white stuff.

Another option for visitors to Serre Chevalier is to visit the nearby resort of Montgenevre which is only a 30 minute drive via car or bus from Briançon. This might make for a great day trip or two where you could spend the day skiing/snowboarding in that resort and which includes the huge Milky Way ski area.
