Selva di Val Gardena sits at the heart of one of the most interconnected ski areas in the Alps. Positioned at 1,563 m at the upper end of Val Gardena, it provides direct access to both sides of the Sella Ronda circuit, making it one of the most strategic bases in the entire Dolomiti Superski network. From Selva, skiing extends in multiple directions: towards the high alpine passes of Passo Sella and Passo Gardena, across the Val Gardena valley towards Ortisei, and onto the vast Seiser Alm plateau. This creates a ski area that is not only extensive, but also highly intuitive to navigate once you understand how the different sectors are laid out on the piste map.
Below you can view and download the latest Val Gardena-Seiser Alm piste map, including Selva and its connections across the wider ski area. Further down the page, you’ll find a clear overview of how the ski area is structured around Selva, followed by a breakdown of where different ski levels are located across the map.

Val Gardena ski map explained
Selva is located slightly left of centre on the piste map at 1,563 m, positioned just above Santa Cristina along the Val Gardena valley and acting as a major junction where multiple lift systems converge and radiate outward.
-
Directly above the village, the Ciampinoi (2,254 m) sector forms the main vertical hub, with lifts rising steeply and distributing skiers across a network of red and black runs. From this point, the terrain splits in two main directions visible on the map.
-
To the left, the ski area extends towards Plan de Gralba and Passo Sella, where wide, open slopes connect directly into the Sella Ronda circuit towards Canazei. This side is characterised by long, flowing pistes and continuous lift links across the Dolomite passes.
-
To the right, Selva connects to the Dantercepies sector and Passo Gardena, another major crossing point on the Sella Ronda leading towards Corvara and Alta Badia. This section sits slightly higher on the map and acts as a key transition between valleys.
-
Further to the right, the terrain follows the valley down towards Santa Cristina and Ortisei, with skiing spreading across Col Raiser and Seceda (2,518 m). This area combines long ridge descents with forested slopes at lower altitude, creating one of the most varied sections of the ski area.
-
Beyond Ortisei, the map shows the extension towards Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm), a separate plateau with wide, gentle slopes that contrast with the steeper terrain around Selva.
Val Gardena ski slopes
The piste map shows that skiing around Selva is structured around a mix of intermediate cruising terrain and more technical descents concentrated on the upper mountain sectors above the village.
-
Beginner slopes are limited directly above Selva and are more clearly concentrated to the right side of the map towards Ortisei and across the Seiser Alm plateau, where wide, gentle terrain provides the most suitable conditions for learning and progression.
-
Intermediate skiers benefit most from the layout around Selva, with a dense network of blue and red runs extending from the Ciampinoi sector towards both sides of the Sella Ronda, allowing long, continuous routes without technical difficulty.
-
Advanced terrain is concentrated on the upper slopes above Selva, particularly around the Ciampinoi sector and along key descents such as the Saslong run towards Santa Cristina, where steeper gradients and more technical skiing are clearly visible on the map.
-
Long-distance skiing is a defining feature of the area, with routes such as La Longia descending from Seceda towards Ortisei, offering extended runs that combine varied terrain and significant vertical drop.
