Overview of Courmayeur

Located at the top of the Aosta valley and with 14 peaks higher than 4000m, Courmayeur is serious mountain destination, often compared to neighbouring Chamonix for it's huge variety of challenging terrain beneath the towering Mt Blanc.

Traditional Alpine architecture adorns the buildings in the car-free village making it feel more French at first glance, but the true Italian charm starts to seep from the cobbled streets as you explore further. The resort bills itself with the strapline, "Come experience a crescendo of fine Italian food, exciting sport activities, superior relaxation and prime shopping." - which sounds pretty tempting!

3 Things We Love About Courmayeur

  1. Amazing ski terrain to explore, including the option to heli ski and ski tour extensively.
  2. The Skyway Monte Bianco rotating cable car up to Punta Helbronner at 3,462 metres is a masterful feat of engineering.
  3. A historic and charming alpine village which maintains tradition whilst innovating for the future of mountain tourism.

Skiing and Snowboarding in Courmayeur

The skiing itself is challenging enough on-piste for intermediates, but off-piste there is real fun to be had especially from the top of the ski area; the Cresta d'Arp.

There are 3 main areas to the resort above the town; Courmayeur, Dolonne and Entrèves. Each has its own benefits and part of the pleasure is exploring and enjoying the intoxicating views of Mont Blanc. You can summit the 3462m Punta Helbronner via a gondola from Entrèves, giving you access to skiing off-piste itineraries on Mont Blanc - True adventure!.

Lift Passes in Courmayeur

A local area pass will enable you to also enjoy access to other famous resorts in the Aosta valley; Gressoney, Champoluc, Pila and Cervinia. Stepping up to a full area pass will also allow you to ski at neighbouring Chamonix and Argentiere.
