La Rosière ski resort piste map

Located in the Haute Tarentaise in the French Alps, La Rosière is a high-altitude ski resort on the Italian border, forming part of the Espace San Bernardo ski area, which links France with La Thuile in Italy. This unique cross-border domain offers over 150 km of pistes, combining wide sunny slopes on the French side with more varied, north-facing terrain in Italy. The ski area stretches from around 1,200 m to 2,800 m, providing reliable snow conditions throughout the winter season.

Below you can view and download the latest La Rosière piste map in PDF format, covering the full ski area across both the French and Italian sides. Further down the page, you’ll find a clear overview of how the ski area is laid out, helping you understand where each sector sits on the map, how the cross-border connections work, and how the terrain is distributed across the mountain. You’ll also find a breakdown of the ski slopes by difficulty, making it easier to identify where beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers should head, and to plan your ski days efficiently across the Franco-Italian domain.

La Rosière ski map explained

The La Rosière ski area is structured along a high-altitude ridge running west to east, with the French resort of La Rosière on the left side and the Italian resort of La Thuile on the right, connected via the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard (2,188 m) at the centre of the map.

  • On the western side (left), the ski area is centred around La Rosière 1850 and Les Eucherts, where a dense network of lifts and pistes spreads across rolling terrain. This is the main access point, with slopes extending upward towards Roches Noires and Fort de la Redoute (2,390 m) and further into higher alpine terrain.
  • Moving towards the centre of the map, the terrain rises to the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, which acts as the key crossing point between France and Italy. From here, multiple pistes descend in both directions, clearly showing the cross-border flow of the ski area.
  • To the north-east (upper centre), the map highlights the Mont Valaisan sector (up to 2,800 m), the highest and most exposed part of the domain. This area is more isolated, accessed via dedicated lifts, and stands out for its steeper terrain and freeride zones.
  • On the eastern side (right), the terrain opens into the wider Italian slopes above La Thuile (1,441 m), where longer descents run down into the valley. This side of the map appears more expansive, with extended runs and a slightly more vertical layout compared to the French side.

La Rosière ski slopes

  • For beginners, the easiest terrain is located around La Rosière 1850 and Les Eucherts, where the map shows clusters of green and blue pistes close to the village level. These slopes are wide, open and well-served by short lifts, creating a clearly defined learning zone on the French side.
  • For intermediate skiers, the majority of the ski area is accessible across the main ridge and cross-border connections, particularly between Les Suches, Plan du Repos and the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard. The map shows a high density of blue and red pistes linking France and Italy, allowing for long, continuous runs and full-day itineraries across both sides of the domain.
  • For advanced skiers, the most technical terrain is located in the upper sectors, especially around Mont Valaisan and the Fort/Belvédère ridgelines, where the map highlights steeper red and black pistes and designated freeride areas. These zones are more exposed and less central, clearly separated from the beginner and intermediate terrain.
