The French proudly describe Samoëns as one of their 'monuments historiques', that just happens to have a great ski area nearby. Only an hour drive from Geneva airport, the centre of Samoëns is traffic-free, and has a beautiful square dominated by a magnificent lime tree.
Rob, Marketing
Samoëns is one of France’s most family friendly ski resorts and has excellent access to the 256km of inter-connected slopes that form the Grand Massif ski area.
Samoëns is a picturesque old village that makes for a perfect base from which to explore the Grand Massif and the linked slopes with Les Carroz, Morillon and Flaine. The access gondola is slightly out of town, but it provides access to the heart of the slopes as well as the best beginner zone in the resort. The local slopes are mostly long and tree-lined, so are fantastic in bad weather conditions, but if the sun is shining, be sure to make the most of your Grand Massif pass and head to the high bowl above Flaine or the powder skiing in the Combe de Gers.
Samoëns is part of the Grand Massif Ski Area. Here you'll find 139 slopes offering approx 265km of skiing via a network of 62 ski lifts.
The pistes offer a good variety of difficulty with 25 green, 59 blue, 44 red and 11 black. As well as this you'll find 19 fun zones and 6 freeride zones. Your connection to the ski area is via the Grand Massif Express. This allows you to reach all the different runs and resorts (Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval) that make up this area.
The best option to make the most of this ski area is to get the lift pass for Le Grand Massif as this will give you the largest amount ski terrain to enjoy. Scroll down to see the prices for lift passes as well as ski hire.
Organising ski hire has never been easier. Select your preferred departure date and see what discounts we offer when you pre-book. (Please note helmets are not included. Please call if you'd like to hire one).
