La Thuile sits on the Italian side of the Espace San Bernardo ski area, directly on the border with France, and linked with La Rosière. The ski domain stretches across a high alpine ridge between the Aosta Valley and the Tarentaise, offering a mix of wide-open slopes, forest descents and high-altitude terrain reaching close to 2,900 metres.
What makes La Thuile distinct is its dual-country layout, where skiing naturally flows between Italy and France, combined with a quieter, more natural feel compared to larger purpose-built resorts. From long intermediate cruisers to one of the steepest pistes in Italy, the terrain is both varied and technically engaging.
Below you can view and download the latest La Thuile piste map in PDF format, covering the full Espace San Bernardo ski area including the connection to La Rosière. Further down the page, you’ll find a clear overview of how the ski area is laid out, helping you understand where each sector sits on the map, how the international connection works, and how the terrain is distributed across the mountain. You’ll also find a breakdown of the ski area by difficulty level, making it easier to identify where beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers should head, and start planning your ski days ahead.

La Thuile ski map explained
La Thuile is positioned on the Italian side of the Espace San Bernardo, with the ski area rising directly above the village and extending across the ridge towards France.
-
At the centre of the map, La Thuile village (1,441 m) sits at the base of the ski area, with multiple lifts climbing directly upwards towards the main ski sectors. From here, the terrain opens into two distinct mountain sides.
-
To the left (western side of the map), the slopes rise towards the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard and the French border, where the ski area connects seamlessly with La Rosière. This section is clearly marked by the international link and features long, flowing pistes that cross between Italy and France.
-
To the right (eastern side of the map), the terrain climbs towards Mont Valaisan (2,891 m) and the highest parts of the ski area, where the slopes are steeper and more exposed. This sector includes high-altitude descents and freeride terrain, with fewer trees and a more alpine environment.
-
Across the mid-mountain, the main lift hub around Les Suches (approx. 2,200 m) acts as the key distribution point, where lifts branch out towards both the French connection and the higher Italian sectors.
-
Lower down, the map shows tree-lined runs descending back to La Thuile, creating a clear vertical flow from high alpine ridges to the village base.
La Thuile ski slopes
-
For beginners, the easiest slopes are located close to La Thuile village and around the Les Suches area, where green and easy blue runs are clustered near the main lift bases. These areas are clearly identifiable on the map, with wide pistes and short lifts designed for progression.
-
For intermediate skiers, the majority of the terrain sits across the central and cross-border sections, particularly between La Thuile and La Rosière. The map shows a dense network of blue and red pistes, offering long, continuous runs across the mountain and through the international connection.
-
For advanced skiers, the most challenging terrain is located in the upper sectors and on steeper north-facing slopes, especially around the Mont Valaisan and higher Italian side. This is where the map highlights black runs and more technical descents, including the Franco Berthod piste, known for its extreme gradient.
