Overview of San Cassiano

At 1,537m and glistening under the looming Lavarela and Conturines massifs, sits the village of San Cassiano. Part of the Alta Badia ski area and located at the eastern edge in a sunny valley, San Cassiano is internationally popular as a ski destination thanks to the immaculately groomed slopes, selection of top hotels and a glut of outstanding restaurants including two with Michelin stars.

The Alta Badia ski area is accessed via the Piz Sorega cable car located in the village, and from there the rest of the Dolomiti Superski area is your oyster

3 Things We Love About San Cassiano

  1. The selection of restaurants including Michelin starred establishments
  2. Access to the Sellaronda is via the neighbouring village of Corvara
  3. Skiing in the ‘hidden valley’ of Lagazuoi

Skiing and Snowboarding in San Cassiano

From this stunningly picturesque village you can easily access all of the Alta Badia ski area. Close by are the neighbouring villages of La Villa, Colfosco and Corvara – the best place to get onto the famous Sellaronda ski circuit. The men’s World Cup run - Gran Risa – is located above La Villa or you could venture slightly further afield to Arabba and the Val Mezdi as well as to any one of the 12 villages in the Dolomiti Superski area.

As with most areas in the Dolomites, the skiing is suited to all abilities and provides an excellent proving ground for the novice to develop and perfect their technique. There are ski schools for children and adults and also a variety of ‘Movimënt’ snow parks on the plateau between Col Alto, Pralongiá, Piz La Ila and Piz Sorega cable cars.
