Flaine ski area

Flaine sits at the heart of the Grand Massif ski area, offering direct access to a large network of pistes connecting the surrounding resorts of Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Known for its natural bowl-shaped terrain and high-altitude skiing, Flaine provides excellent snow reliability and wide open slopes that are particularly well suited to intermediate skiers.

Flaine's main ski sectors by ability

  • For beginners Flaine offers several gentle slopes that are well suited to learning to ski. The Marvel piste is a wide green run with scenic mountain views, making it an ideal starting point for first-time skiers. Nearby, Tourmaline features gentle gradients and broad, open terrain that allows beginners to build confidence while practising their turns.
  • Intermediate skiers will find a wide selection of long cruising runs across the Flaine ski area. One of the highlights is Cascade, one of the longest pistes in the Grand Massif at around 14 km, offering varied terrain and spectacular scenery along the descent. Another popular option is Mephisto, a flowing blue run that provides an enjoyable and relaxed descent for confident intermediates.
  • Experienced skiers can explore steeper terrain and more technical pistes on the upper slopes above Flaine. Combe de Gers is a challenging black run known for its sustained steep gradient and demanding character. Nearby, Diamant Noir is one of the most iconic and difficult pistes in the resort, offering a steep and technical descent that rewards strong, confident skiers.

The Flaine ski area is served by a modern network of 20 ski lifts connecting the different sectors of the resort and linking directly to the wider Grand Massif ski domain.
