If you enjoy a monstrous ski area with multiple mountains to explore and après to rival any ski resort in the world, then you should probably consider the Zillertal for your next ski holiday.
With 530km of ski runs and 180 lifts accessible on one lift pass the area is truly massive. And although not all interconnected by lifts, getting between Hochfugen, Hoch-Zillertal, Mayrhofen and the famous Hintertux glacier is super easy thanks to typically efficient Austrian infrastructure and fantastic ski lift systems throughout.
As the more popular resort in the area, Mayrhofen is worthy of its reputation as one of the best ski resorts in the world. The après ski is off the chart, and the traditional Tyrolean village centre is refreshing break away from the purpose-built charmless resorts elsewhere.
If you’re a freestyle skier or snowboarder, Penken Park should be well known to you. It’s ranked one of the best parks in the Alps. At 2,100m and with excellent lift access from the Sun Jet chairlift, keen riders can lap over a dozen kickers and 30+ boxes and rails in the intermediate, advanced and pro zones.
