Overview

Nestled in the shadow of the Marmolada massif this unassuming ski village features easy access to challenging ski terrain from a charming, quaint resort. Retaining as much Italian ski heritage as possible; from the distinct architecture to the Aperitivo and dining, a trip to Arabba is a traditional Italian ski experience in the truest sense.

Skiing and Boarding in Arabba

Arabba’s tagline is “High. Challenging. Cozy” – which seems to pretty much hit the nail on the head. In terms of skiing the runs are challenging for intermediate skiers, without being impossible. There’s certainly more for accomplished skiers than beginners. The real boon is the direct access to the Sellaronda circuit and the rest of the Dolomiti Superski area – the largest in Europe with 1,200kms of piste!
The resort village itself is small (“cozy”) and the volume of local runs reflect that. However, they are all well kept and fun for a warm up or that final run down at the end of the day. Excellent access to the famous Marmolada glacier is what it’s all about for anyone after a challenge. Topping out at 3,200 for skiing and featuring red and black runs including the 12km La Bellunese it’s a big area to explore, especially rewarding with an off-piste guide.

Lift Pass Options in Arabba

A local’s pass will get you to the top of the Marmolada glacier but to get the most of a ski holiday to Arabba you really want to opt for The Dolomiti Super Ski pass. With access to 12 varied resorts including the famous Sellaronda circuit, 450 ski lifts and a massive 1,200km of pisted runs, It’s one of the largest ski areas in the world. Value for money (£’s per km) is quite incredible if you like to chalk up the miles on your ski holiday.

Activities in Arabba

As well skiing the Sellaronda and visiting the dozen resorts on the Dolomiti Superski pass you can also indulge in some other activities (if you have the energy!)
  • Ice skating
  • Paragliding
  • Ice Climbing
  • Snowmobiling
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross country skiing

Après Ski in Arabba

As a small mountain village, Arabba isn’t teaming with thriving apres clubs and the like. Instead you’ll find a handful of independent bars and bistros serving food and drinks as well as the bars in the village’s dozen or so hotels, who all welcome non-resident patrons. It’s relaxed for the most part, but fun. And there are late night haunts if you keep your ear to the ground and ask one of the many friendly locals.

Places to eat in Arabba

A small village means a small offering, but you won’t be disappointed. The menus are extensive and varied to keep your appetite whetted throughout your stay.

  • Bar Peter – A chilled out vibe and a typically Italian menu with which you won’t be disappopinted, especially after a long day’s skiing
  • Miky's Grill, Hotel Mesdi – Homemade Italian classics like pasta and pizza as well as traditional meat dishes served ‘open kitchen’ style by the chefs
  • Rifugio Fodom – Large portions of Italian staples served with a mountain view. Even better on your final ski home when the sun is shining
  • Ristorante Albergo Pordoi – Gets rave reviews for the size and taste of their pizzas but the menu is varied and great value. Great for large groups.

Family Ski Options in Arabba

As a small mountain village the provisions for children are almost non-existent. If your kids are energetic, independent and love skiing, they’ll love Arabba. But for beginners and young families it might not quite have the range of services you’re after – if you fancy a day off the slopes for example.
