Discover the best of Val d'Isere with veteran ski and snowboard editor Henry Druce
It is renowned as being one of the world's leading ski areas with very good reason. Val d'Isere, along with its neighbour Tignes, is home to the world's highest extended ski area with over 300km of snow-sure pistes ranging from easy green runs, heart-in-mouth blacks and extensive, easily accessible, off-piste.
Many of us know this as Val d'Isere has one hell of a reputation. What is less well known is that often the area saves the best conditions for last, in the final weeks of the season.
Henry is well aware of this, having hosted late-season trips to Val d'Isere for 22 years when he was editor of the Daily Mail then The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard magazine.
He says, "I couldn't believe the many years we received fresh snowfall and were skiing in ankle, sometimes knee-deep powder."
Over more than two decades Henry has hosted up to six trips per season to destinations as far afield as the US and Japan, and closer to home in St Anton, Austria and Champoluc, Italy. These holidays attracted 1,000s of people, an eclectic bunch of couples, single travellers and small groups of friends of all ages and abilities, with one uniting factor - a passion for skiing and snowboarding.
Thanks to Covid, Brexit and the closure of The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard magazine four years ago, these unique, hosted holidays came to an end....
Until now.
Following demand on his social media channels, Henry has decided to re-launch the end-of-season trip to Val d'Isere, and we are delighted to be his partner. Being avid skiers we have frequently enjoyed amazing snow conditions at the end of the season and decidedly empty pistes We are keen to share this with a select few....

The first team to complete the task is the winner and there are prizes for fancy dress, best photos, funny stories and whatever else grabs Henry's attention.

Everyone will get a chance to mingle with fellow guests at the welcome reception with Prosecco and nibbles and hear about the week’s plans.
