Overview of Ortisei Val Gardena

Although not the most well-known to skiers, Ortisei is actually the biggest village in Val Gardena boasting a wide range of shops and restaurants along its pedestrian highstreets. Ornate 19th century buildings, meandering streets and pretty squares set the scene for a very relaxed atmosphere in the village. Ortisei provides the last link in the Valley to the Sella Ronda circuit as well as direct access to the smaller ski area of Alpe di Siusi.

Sitting at 1,236m above sea level, the resort of Ortisei is a 2 hour transfer from Innsbruck airport and is neighboured by the other villages in Val Gardena – Santa Cristina and Selva.

3 Things We Love About Ortisei Val Gardena

  1. Streets buzzing with a plethora of boutiques, independent shops and cafes
  2. Direct access to the Selleronda ski circuit and the wider Dolomiti Superski
  3. Stunning scenery including views of Seceda and Pitschberg mountains

The Alpe di Siusi in the Dolomites-Val Gardena skiing area is a great starting point for novice skiers and children. The slopes are wide and gentle, allowing a gradual progression from green to blue slopes. From the village of Selva Val Gardena, you can access the Sellaronda and also experience the longest piste in South Tyrol, the "La Longia" – a 10km run which connects Mount Seceda to Ortesei over 1,200m+ of vertical descent and stunning views.

Lift Passes in Ortisei Val Gardena

A local Val Gardena & Alpe de Suissi pass is available which would be suitable for beginners and families with young children. The area covers 79 lifts and over 175km of runs, which is fairly large.

However, to get the full experience, a Dolomiti Superski full area pass will give you full access to all 12 valleys in the ski area and over 1200km of pisted runs!
