April in the Alps is all about sunny ski days, laid-back lunches on the terrace, and making the most of the season’s final snowfalls. With a solid snow base built up over winter, you'll still find great conditions across many high-altitude resorts, plus the added bonus of blue skies and milder weather – perfect for t-shirts and sun cream on the slopes.
Easter is a fantastic time for families to hit the mountains, often with better value than peak weeks like Christmas, New Year or February Half Term – without compromising on the experience.
We offer a wide range of catered chalets and self-catered apartments for April departures.

Is Easter a good time for a ski holiday?
Definitely. Easter usually falls in late March or April, when the days are longer, sunnier and warmer —
perfect for families and groups who want great skiing and relaxed afternoons soaking up the mountain views. High-altitude resorts keep their snow well into spring, so you’ll still find excellent conditions with the bonus of festive events and quieter slopes.
Can you still ski in April?
Absolutely, it’s one of the most common questions we get! Many high-altitude resorts still offer excellent skiing in April, thanks to a solid snow base built up over the season. And yes, it’s not unusual to see the odd late-season snow dump – sometimes over a metre overnight. Pair that with longer, sunnier days and you’ve got a pretty perfect spring ski setup.
Are high-altitude resorts better for April ski holidays?
Yes – if you're skiing in April, it's best to aim high. Glacier areas can hold snow well into May, so it's best to choose resorts with villages and pistes above 1500m and generally offer the most reliable conditions as the season winds down. Higher altitudes mean colder temperatures, better snow preservation, and a greater chance of catching a late-season snowfall – all key for making the most of those sunny spring ski days.
Which ski resorts stay open the latest in April?
Resorts with glaciers or lifts that climb above 3,000m hold onto their snow well into spring. Tignes and Val d’Isère are some of the safest bets, usually staying open right through to early May. Val Thorens (the highest resort in Europe) also keeps its runs in great condition until the end of April with Summer skiing even a possibility! Les Deux Alpes is a top glacier picks too, offering excellent late-season skiing.
Do resorts host events over Easter?
Absolutely! Many ski resorts love to make the most of the Easter holidays with special events and celebrations. You’ll often find family-friendly activities such as egg hunts on the slopes, themed ski races, live music and sunny terrace parties. Resorts like Val d’Isère, Tignes and Les Arcs typically have a buzzing atmosphere around Easter, with extra entertainment to keep both kids and adults smiling. Pair that with longer, sunnier days and you’ve got a festive alpine vibe that makes April ski holidays extra memorable.
What’s the snow like in April?
April snow can be fantastic. Think crisp corduroy pistes in the morning and softer, sun-kissed runs in the afternoon. Resorts with glaciers (like Tignes, Val d’Isère or Les Deux Alpes) and those sitting above 1,800m tend to guarantee the best late-season snow cover, with plenty of terrain staying open right through to May.
Are there ski deals for April holidays?
April is one of the best months for ski holiday deals. Once the peak season has passed, you’ll often find great value on catered chalets. Families in particular can take advantage of Easter offers, and groups benefit from quieter slopes and discounted rates. Once in resort, you could also bag a bargain on new ski equipment for the next season too!
