Regional Snow Snapshot
updated 3rd November, 2025
- Northern French Alps: About 15-25cm of new snow above 2300m with a dusting to as low as 1500m in places.
- Southern French Alps: The deepest reported snow in France is in Alpe d’Huez, which reports snow depths of 200cm on upper slopes.
- Austrian Alps: Varying snow conditions but plenty of fresh snowfall in St. Anton and Hintertux Glacier.
Practical Info & Booking Tips
- Lift passes: To maximise fresh snow opportunities, plump for a full-area pass where available as it will allow you to access all slopes, on all aspects, up to the highest possible altitude in your area.
- Transfers: If heavy snowfall is forecast, be prepared for longer mountain transfers in order to arrive safely at your destination. Winter tyres and chains may be required on local roads.
- Ski hire: If chasing fresh powder, choose wider skis or consult a reputable local hire shop for advice and match equipment to your level of skill.
- Insurance: Ensure your travel insurance covers piste closures and helicopter rescue if you’re planning to ski off-piste.
How We Verify Conditions
We use official resort snow reports, ski-area webcams, and lift status pages when updating this page. Where possible we add photos and videos from our Skiworld staff in snow-sure resorts accross the Alps.
