Expect 31 green/blue, 29 red, and 9 black runs, plus access to the beautiful and often quieter Orelle valley. Snowfall is consistent from November through May, with conditions that keep thrill-seekers coming back year after year.

Things to Do Off the Slopes

Need a day off the skis? Try snowshoeing, sledging the 7km Cosmojet toboggan run, or visiting the sports centre for climbing, ice skating, or a dip in the pool. Val Thorens is more than just a ski resort — it’s a full winter playground.

Après Ski Venues

Val Thorens doesn’t hold back when it comes to après. Head straight from the slopes to the legendary La Folie Douce for DJs, dancing, and alpine theatre, or chill out with a drink at Le Monde, Bar 360, or Le Yeti. Whether you're after high-energy or low-key, you'll find your vibe.

Places to Eat

Staying in a Skiworld catered chalet? You’ll be fuelled up with breakfast, afternoon tea, and three-course evening meals with wine — all taken care of by your friendly chalet hosts. Fancy dining out on your chalet host's evening off? Val Thorens has plenty to offer, from Savoyard classics at La Maison to refined dishes at Les Airelles and L’Antre Amis.

Family Entertainment

Val Thorens is brilliant for families. There’s a dedicated children’s ski area, fun snow parks, and a well-rated ski school. Off the slopes, the sports centre offers family-friendly indoor activities, from trampolining to swimming, it's great for winding down or rainy days.

Frequently Asked Questions about Val Thorens Chalets Holidays

Is Val Thorens snow-sure for early season?

Yes, and then some. At 2,300m, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe, which means you're pretty much guaranteed great conditions from late November onwards. If you’re planning a pre-Christmas getaway or want reliable snow in December, Val Thorens is one of the safest bets in the Alps.

What kinds of ski chalets are there in Val Thorens?

From traditional alpine charm to sleek and modern comforts, our chalets in Val Thorens tick all the boxes. Whether you’re after a cosy retreat for two or a group base with ski-in/ski-out access, we’ve got catered chalet options to suit every style, and plenty with mountain views to wake up to.

Are Skiworld chalets  in Val Thorens close to the ski lifts?

Most of our chalets in Val Thorens are right where you want them: just a few steps from the slopes. No long treks in ski boots. Just grab your gear, clip in, and go. You’ll be exploring the vast Three Valleys before most people have finished their croissant.

What’s included in a Val Thorens catered chalet holiday?

Expect the good stuff. A hearty breakfast to start the day, afternoon tea waiting when you get back from the slopes, and a 3-course evening meal with wine on six nights. Our chalet hosts know how to fuel skiers properly and you won’t lift a finger in the kitchen all week.

What’s the après-ski like in Val Thorens?

High-altitude, high-energy, and seriously fun. Whether it’s dancing on tables at La Folie Douce, live DJs, or cosy wine bars, Val Thorens does après properly. It’s got that lively buzz without losing its alpine soul and it’s all within walking (or skiing) distance of your chalet.

How do I get to Val Thorens?

We make it easy. Fly from the regional airports dotted around the UK into Grenoble, and we’ll take care of the transfers as part of the package so you can just focus on skiing, not logistics. Or, opt to self-drive with our Le Shuttle option – ideal if you prefer to take the scenic route.

Does Val Thorens get crowded?

It depends on the week. The resort is large and well laid out, so even at busy times you can find space but lift queues and après spots are noticeably quieter outside of the main holidays.

When is the best time to ski in Val Thorens?

The season runs from late November to early May, but the best conditions are usually from mid-December through till mid-April. If you’re after quieter slopes, early December, January and March are ideal. For après ski and buzz, go around New Year or school holidays.
