We all have a list of places we would love to get to on our travels. This is true of all manner of experiences and is no different when it comes to skiing.

The more people you ask the more certain places will come up. Some of these dream locations will be no surprise and you can bet that St Anton will be one of them. This legendary resort sells itself.

We happen to also have a group of chalets that sell themselves, due to their luxurious facilities and superior location. What’s more is that they find themselves situated in the aforementioned, renowned resort of St Anton.

Now for those who need a recap of the glory that is St Anton, and are intrigued by these chalets within, we have put together a few reminders that should ensure they are both on your bucket list of holiday destinations.

The trio of chalet excellence

The chalets in question are of course the Mountain Sky trio of the Chalet Cirrus, Chalet Stratus and Chalet Nimbus. Their Signature status gives a good indication of just why they do a good job of selling themselves.

After passing through their concealed roadside elevator-door entrance, before we have even entered the chalets, we come across their own outdoor heated jet-pool, followed by a wellness area complete with sauna and steam room.

Venturing inside the chalets we are welcomed by the stylish mix of traditional and modern décor. This high level of quality continues into the bedrooms with en suite shower rooms and Juliette balconies.

These popular properties conveniently come in different sizes. We have the Chalet Cirrus and Chalet Stratus perfectly fitting smaller groups of six. With the Chalet Nimbus coming to the rescue if you just can’t decide who to cut from your group of 10. Regardless of the size, the comfort level is doesn’t diminish, the open fires and indulgent lounge areas see to this.

The notorious skiing of St Anton

The Mountain Sky chalets may make you feel like you’re in the clouds, but do not worry they are also helpfully close to the slopes. A stroll of a few hundred metre or a quick bus ride (from outside the chalets) will take you to the lifts and the pistes.

The skiing has the reputation of being both challenging and varied. This is true and experts will not be disappointed by the stimulating runs at their feet. However as with all the best resorts, beginners will not have to throw themselves down a black on day one, just head over to the nursery slopes in Nasserein and Gampen areas.

For those making their way straight past the beginner area, the Valluga mountain is both extreme and unforgettable for those looking to seriously test themselves. If you manage to get through the steep top section, you can look forward to the open powder fields down to Zurs.

Both beginner and advanced snow sports practitioners can hone their freestyle skills at the Rendl snow park, complete with halfpipe, rails and kickers.

Location location…

After deciding that you want the best, in both your skiing and your accommodation, you need to make sure these are also in the perfect place. This may seem simple but there are a few things to consider. You don’t want any of your precious time wasted on lengthy journeys.

Firstly, you need to get to the resort…ideally as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Thankfully this was clearly taken into consideration when St Anton decided where to locate itself. Compared to some of the lengthier transfers in France, the 2-hour journey from airport to resort will seem like a dream, especially if you’re travelling with younger skiers.

Next, what’s the point of having world class pistes at your disposable if you’re worn out after simply getting to the foot of the first lift. The Mountain Sky Chalets have you covered here as well. After a hearty Signature standard breakfast, the pistes and lifts are within easy reach.

Finally, skiing isn’t the only past time on offer in a ski resort. We need to know that the trip back from the restaurants, shops and maybe most importantly the bars isn’t too arduous. With the town centre around 800m away this shouldn’t be too tricky, even after some table dancing at après.

When it comes down to it, we have established St Anton is going to be on everyone’s skiing bucket list, so it’s a case of when and not if. What better time than now to start planning the dream trip, especially if it has been longer than normal since your last excursion to the slopes.
