Italian Ski Holidays – Why Go and Where to Stay

Italian ski holidays have been added to our portfolio for the 2019/20 season, offering self-catered apartments and hotels in six Italian resorts across two regions – Italian Alps and Dolomites. In comparison to other European destinations such as France and Switzerland, Italy puts more emphasis on the fun and relaxed holiday experience rather than the sporting side, making it an attractive ski holiday option, particularly for families.

To celebrate this fantastic addition, we have a special offer (save £50pp) running up until 30th June 2019 when you book an Italian ski holiday. Call to book and quote the promo code “ITALY50” to qualify for this offer.

Why Ski in Italy

Feedback

Customers who travelled with us in previous seasons have highlighted that Italy is a sought-after ski holiday destination and that they would like to see it as part of our programme. Having listened to the feedback, we have launched a range of self-catering apartments and hotels to suit differing needs and preferences across six unique resorts – all offering something different.

Huge Ski Areas

The Dolomiti Superski area has 1,220km of slopes across 12 resorts using just the one lift pass. The Dolomite’s ski area is twice the size of any other ski area in Europe. Resorts such as Arabba, Val Gardena and Corvara are on the Sella Ronda, a 24km circuit taking in the four valleys around the stunning, majestic limestone Sella Massif. Intermediate skiers should be sure to give this a try!

The Milky Way (Via Lattea) ski area of the Italian Alps offers 400km of slopes, encompassing six unique resorts, from the lively apres spot, Sauze D’Oulx to  the highest altitude skiing in Sestriere.

Unique Scenery

The Italian  landscape is picture perfect, with a combination of mountains, lakes and perfectly groomed slopes.  The dramatic Dolomite’s are large jagged limestone peaks that surround stylish ski resorts such as Arabba and Selva Val Gardena.  You can also witness the rose tinted mountains at dawn and dusk – a sight not to be missed. It’s easy to see why the Dolomite’s were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009.

Italian Lift Systems

The lift systems in Italy are efficient and effective, with no queues and  providing access to an immense range of terrain.

The Dolomite’s ski area is connected by 450 lift systems. Val Gardena has a total of 81 state-of -the-art lifts, including Italy’s first eight-seater chairlift with heated seats on the Piz Sella. New for 2019/20 season is the six person detachable chairlift.

The Milky Way ski area is well linked, spanning over 400km, between the Italian-French border.

Italian Hospitality

Italy is renowned for its delicious food and drink. Across the Alps, you will find 5 star restaurants on and off the mountain, offering a range of traditional Italian dishes.

The Dolomiti Superski area alone has 14 Michelin-starred restaurants and 400 mountain inns, full of diverse gourmet dishes to tantalize any palette. In particular, Corvara is known for its gastronomy.
