Short Ski Breaks vs. Long Stays

Les Carroz
Flexibility is becoming increasingly important – at work, at home, and certainly now when it comes to holiday choices. Different lifestyles and different schedules dictate the available time for exciting trips away. No matter how enticing a much-needed break sounds, it’s useless if it can’t dovetail with the ever-changing timetable of modern life.

The classic seven-night holiday isn’t ‘one-size-fits-all’ like it used to be. Some people need a short ski break away from the grind before diving back into work without missing a beat. For others, a week really isn’t enough time off – either for an extra special trip of a lifetime or when a more intensive period of R&R is needed (after an entire year without a sniff of a holiday, for example!).

Short Ski Breaks

In the past, it has only been possible to enjoy our catered and private chalets for a full week, but this is no longer the case. Short stays and ski weekends are rising in popularity so Skiworld has evolved to meet the demand. For example, we have a range of top-spec catered ski chalets available for a short ski break of 5 nights (4 ski days) from the 3rd – 8th of January 2022.

If having all the luxuries of a homely chalet isn’t for you, many ski apartments and hotels are bookable on a short-break basis too (simply enquire via the page to find out more). And as Skiworld only operates in high, snow-sure resorts there’ll always be snow waiting on the slopes, wherever you choose to go.

Ski Short Break Resorts

For ski chalets, why not head over to Tignes? Catered and private chalets can be found in all the best villages including Tignes Le Lac and Tignes Val Claret, which feature excellent access to the ski lifts and all the facilities you’ll need.
If you’re looking for a self-catered apartment then La Plagne Bellecote is a lovely self-contained ski village giving unbeatable access to the slopes of the massive Paradiski area (including Les Arcs, pictured below), plus there’s shops, a cinema, and plenty of restaurants and bars in close proximity.

Long Stay Holidays

The eagle-eyed among you will have worked out that a five-night chalet short break opens up a couple of 12-night extravaganzas (read about Long Ski Holidays on the 2022 Ski Deals page here) to allow the booking schedule to return to the standard Saturday-Saturday.

New Year Skiing

A New Year ski holiday is THE calendar highlight so making it longer can only be a good thing. This option is a catered ski chalet holiday from 27th December 2021 through to the 8th January 2022, seeing in the New Year in the process, sounds good right?

Whether you spend the extra time recovering from the antics of NYE or clocking up another few hundred kilometres on the slopes is up to you.

Long Stay Holidays in January

Another 12-night stay in our catered private ski chalets is available to book from the 3rd – 15th January 2022 – ideal for those looking for the same duration with a lower price tag than new year. If you can’t escape to the mountains over the festive period, but still want more time to enjoy/destroy all the runs on offer, this could be the option for you. Your legs will definitely be feeling it afterward!

Ski Resorts for Long Stay Holidays

When deciding where to spend this extended ski holiday, there are a few considerations, not least finding a ski area large enough to satisfy all the extra skiing (and après) time. Val Thorens (in the 3 Valleys), Tignes (connected to Val d’Isere) and St Anton are tried and tested in this respect.
