Skiing and Boarding in Kimberley

Located in the Purcell Range of the Canadian Rockies, the ski resort of Kimberley offers stunning scenery and skiing terrain that provides for both the complete beginner and the advanced skier. Kimberley’s Owl Learning Centre at the base of the North Star Express Chairlift has a 180 foot long magic carpet lift servicing a wide and gentle slope suitable for beginners looking to build confidence for the more challenging terrain. Furthermore, On North Star Mountain, there is a beginner's area on the front side of the mountain with meticulously groomed and long, open pistes.

For the intermediate skier in Kimberley, the Black Forest Glades and the Easter bowl areas provide a true mountain playground, boasting extensive opportunities for experimentation and secret powder stashes. For the advanced skier in Kimberley, skiers can head off the Tamarack chairlift where they can sample the challenges of an intimidating double black diamond slope. Alternatively, the Tamarack chairlift also services some of Kimberley’s steepest mogul covered runs including Rush and Bunker Hill.

Since the ski resort of Kimberley boasts some of Canada’s widest skiing areas, the resort is very snowboarder friendly. Indeed, the Black Forest Glades cater brilliantly for all levels of snowboarder owing to its consistent powder and wide and gently undulating pistes. In addition, Kimberley’s Telus Terrain Park located under the North Star Express Chairlift is littered with large jumps, rails, kickers and tabletops. For the cross-country enthusiast, Kimberley has 33km of groomed terrain at their disposal. Furthermore, the ski resort of Kimberley caters excellently for night skiing, with one of North America’s longest illuminated runs.

Visitors can also enjoy all the shopping and dining in the quaint German-themed Platzl, located in the heart of Kimberley’s downtown. Here visitors can find everything from a trip memento you’ve been looking for or stumble onto a rare find.

Located at the ski base of the resort of Kimberley, hungry and tired skiers can recharge at the popular Kelsey’s Bar and Grill. Decorated in keeping with much of the resort, this comfortable and charming pine lodge offers a wide variety of international cuisine with tranquil and idyllic views. Similarly, Kimberley’s Steamwinder Bar and Grill features a full service bar complete and live music with heated outdoor seating for those that like to eat in the cool mountain air.

For a later and altogether intoxicating experience, head to Kimberley’s popular Steamwinder Bar, complete with an outdoor heated seating area perfect for après ski drinks and barbecues. Alternatively, head to either McBees Pub or BJ’s Creek side Pub are packed to the rafters every night with international visitors drinking, dancing and making friends.
