Top Tips for Enjoying the Mountains Solo Style
Just like skiing, a solo trip is all about stepping out of your comfort zone. To help you make the most of your time in the mountains, here are a few top tips. Skiing solo can be an unforgettable experience—but on a Skiworld trip, you’ll also have the option to ski with new friends if you want to!
1. Know your limits. If you’re skiing solo, it’s crucial to know your skiing level and personal limits. While there’s no harm in challenging yourself a bit, pushing too far could put you at risk. Stay safe and enjoy the freedom on the slopes!
2. Stay alert. Whether skiing in a group or alone, always stay aware of your surroundings and any changing conditions.
3. Familiarise yourself with the mountain. Before heading up the nearest chairlift, study a piste map and get your bearings—or ask your Skiworld Trip Manager for a few favourite runs. Don’t forget to find out the best way back to your chalet!
4. Check the weather. While we’ll all be hoping for bluebird skies, mountain weather can be unpredictable! Be prepared by asking your chalet hosts about conditions, or check online.
5. Pack the essentials. Essentials like water, layers, and a light snack are must-haves when skiing solo. Take breaks when you need them and enjoy your time in the snowy scenery!
