Social Skiing Service

Skiing has to be one of THE most social activities - perhaps that’s why we love it so very much!

Whether you are enjoying a chalet, hotel or apartment holiday with us, our social skiing service gives you the opportunity to meet other skiers and boarders and get to know all your resort has to offer.

Organised by one of your resort Representatives, our social skiing service is an entirely free, relaxed and fun affair. It is aimed at giving you a gentle orientation of the slopes whilst meeting fellow skiers and boarders

We ask that you be able to competently tackle a red run and that you bring a piste map so that you can always know where you are. We check the forecast and which lifts are open and make sure you are happy with all the lifts you are likely to use. Our social skiers will ensure there are regular breaks and they have the inside track on mountain restaurants…

In our North American chalet resorts we offer a minimum of one day’s ski or board hosting each week and our staff will be able to give you details of the free Ski Ambassador services run by the resorts themselves. Unique to American and Canadian resorts, Ski Ambassadors are local people who delight in showing visitors around the pistes.

Ever popular, our services are offered on a first come first served basis and weather dependent. Our service is always run subject to local regulations.

If you’d like to improve your skiing, find the shortest queues and discover those gems of runs only the locals seem to know about, there really is nothing better than lessons or a guide. Both in the UK and resort we’d be happy to sort out just what suits you.

Due to local regulations, we are no longer able to offer social skiing by our staff in St Anton. We are able however to offer one day's social skiing in Sonnenkopf (for a small transport fee, subject to demand and weather conditions).

We are delighted to be offering a social skiing service on Sunday afternoons in many of our French resorts this season. Our social skiing service is offered free to our guests on a first come first served basis. The aim is to give our newly arrived guests a friendly and fun tour of the area on their day of arrival and this will last approximately 2 hours.

Group numbers are limited and once the group is full we may be able to organise a guide for you (subject to availability) and this will be payable locally.

Our service is aimed at competent skiers and boarders who are capable of skiing a red run. One of our Reps will accompany the group who will be led by a qualified local instructor from one of our partner ski schools. The instructor’s decision regarding suitability of joining the group or where they will ski is final. There is no instruction and the groups will not go off piste.

Our social skiing groups are obliged to observe local rules and regulations. In so doing, we need to draw your attention to the fact that social skiing does not form part of your holiday contract with us or any part of your holiday cost. If we are prevented from operating this complimentary service we reserve the right to withdraw it and to offer to engage local ski guides (the basic cost of which will be passed on to participating clients). Ski guides and transport to other resorts may carry a charge.

The social skiing service is subject to weather conditions and local laws and is undertaken at our guests own risk. Skiworld cannot be held responsible for any accident or injury sustained whilst taking part in such activities. Social skiing is not available in resorts where Skiworld do not have a resort representative service.

We are able to offer this service in the resorts of Val d'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs and Val Thorens. It is not currently available in other French resorts due to local regulations.

Beginners Welcome

Ski hostingAlways wanted to try skiing but don’t know where to start? Or do you have a beginner in your group? We love skiing and we are very keen for more people to share our passion.

We have carefully chosen ski schools with excellent reputations for beginners who will help
ease you into skiing whilst ensuring that as well as having fun, you establish the right technical
foundations in order to progress.  Please call the sales team on 0330 102 8004 to find out more.

In some cases a lift pass is not needed when you first start as many resorts have free beginner lifts at the base of the mountain. In other instances some of the best easy slopes are higher up and you will need a pass right at the beginning.

*Our service is subject to local laws and weather conditions and is subject to minimum and maximum numbers. Places are offered on a first come first served basis. In the event of our service being curtailed or restricted by local regulations, we may be obliged to hire local guides and we reserve the right to pass on these costs.
