Europe: Pre-departure Information - Transport

Please note that all flight times are provisional until you receive your documentation. The carriers may have changed flight times since you made your holiday booking. Please check your documents as soon as you receive them, in particular that passengers’ titles, initials and names are as per their passport. Please inform the office immediately if you find an error on the itinerary.
Baggage Allowance
On our European charter flights, your baggage should not comprise more than 1 suitcase or bag plus1 boot bag, weighing no more than 20kgs in total and 1 piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 5kg. Skis and snowboards may also be carried if booked and paid for in advance. Subject to availability.
Carriage of either skis or snowboards on charter flights
With ever larger numbers of people carrying equipment on flights, charter airlines are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the extra weight (and therefore fuel) and handling of these oversized items. This has increased the risk of items being offloaded from aircraft
In line with all other major winter sports operators, we ask that you register your skis/boards with us at the time of booking at a cost of £35 per board or set of skis on our charter flights. If you do not pre-book, there will be a £45 per board or set of skis charge at the airport and we cannot guarantee that your equipment will be accepted. Each plane has a limited amount of space for skis and boards and this is allocated on a first come first served basis. We strongly advise that you book your equipment with us at the earliest opportunity. Ski and Snowboard bags must contain skis and snowboards only and boot bags contain ski or snowboarding boots only (in case of delay or the necessity of offloading this equipment). Please note that snowboard bags count as oversized sporting equipment and must be paid for as board carriage, regardless of whether this is your only item of checked baggage.
Ski/ Board Carriage weight allowance:
Monarch = 12kgs
Jet2 = 20kgs
Flybe = 20kgs
Titan = 18kgs
Easyjet = 12kgs
If you have NOT paid for ski carriage, you are allowed to take a boot bag (on our European Charter flights) but this forms part of your 20kgs standard allowance. Please note that on Monarch flights boot bags are not allowed to be taken as hand luggage into the aircraft cabin and must be checked into the aircraft hold.
Should your skis or board which have been pre-booked fail to travel on your flight, we will arrange for them to be forwarded to your resort at no extra charge. No-frills airlines insist that skis or boards are booked in advance and their charges start at £25 per item each way.
Baggage allowance on European scheduled flights
With carriers such as Easyjet, you pre-paid allowance is 1 item of checked baggage weighing no more than 20kgs plus 1 piece of hand luggage no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm including wheels, which must fit comfortably into Easyjets baggage gauge. Please note that a boot bag is equal to one piece of luggage and can either be carried as hand baggage (subject to above size restrictions) or must be pre-paid as additional baggage if you want to check it into the hold. Supplements apply for additional bags, weight and for other sporting equipment. These must be booked and paid for in advance.
Carriage of either skis or snowboards on European scheduled flights
Ski and board bags are classed as oversized sporting equipment and must be pre-registered at a cost of £25 per item each way.
Airlines have different regulations regarding travellers in the advanced stages of pregnancy. Some refuse to carry passengers who will be more than 28 weeks pregnant on their return journey. Please check with your airline.
Passengers for charter flights should check in at least 2 hours prior to departure, those for scheduled flights should check in 2 and a half hours prior to departure. Please remember to leave time for traffic delays and parking or reaching the terminal from the rail station. Your itinerary will advise which terminal your flight departs from.
Airline handling staff may ask you to check-in items of hand baggage and we would therefore ask you to remove essential items so this can be done with minimum inconvenience. We would also advise that you allow extra time than usual for check-in in case of any unforeseen delays due to security measures.
Please note that the majority of our European chartered flights are un-catered. There are limited snacks to purchase. We recommend that you purchase food items at the airport before boarding.
On arrival at your destination, please look out for your Skiworld Representative if you have travelled on a Skiworld flight. Transfers are arranged to meet your flight. During your transfer journey to the resort if you haven’t pre-booked your ski-packs already, your Representative will collect money for your ski packs so that they can be purchased on your behalf when you arrive in your resort.
Please note that for those who arrive early, there may be an overlap with departing clients who are travelling by train.
We ask for your patience in this as it is due to the flexible nature of the service we offer.
If you are travelling to resort in your own vehicle you should arrive on the same day as our flight programme. We cannot guarantee that your rooms will be ready for your arrival, but we will do our utmost to ensure they are prepared as quickly as possible. If you have not done so already, please notify us of your estimated arrival time and a contact number. If you will be arriving very early or very late in the day please call the Resort Manager who will meet you in resort. The Resort Managers telephone number is featured on your itinerary.
Many resorts have parking restrictions and parking charges and in some resorts and chalets parking must be booked in advance. It may be free to take a car into resort to unload and then leave it on the outskirts. Please ask our reservations team for details.
P&O Ferries and Eurotunnel do not issue tickets for their services. Please quote the booking reference number shown on your itinerary at check-in. Please make sure you try to make the crossing time confirmed on your invoice and itinerary. If you are likely to miss your scheduled crossing, please call the operator in advance to advise them and they will try to re-book you on to the next available crossing.
At St Pancras - We will post your tickets for the Eurostar Direct service. Check-in opens 2 hours prior to departure.
At Ashford - If you are travelling from Ashford your tickets from St Pancras are still valid for travel. Parking is available at Ashford at a cost of approximately £40 for 8 days.
Check-in closes 20 minutes prior to departure. No passengers will be allowed through the gate after this time.
PLEAE NOTE: Most tickets state Bourg St. Maurice as the final destination. Please check your itinerary for the correct station at which you must alight as it may be a station before Bourg Saint Maurice. See below for more details. There is no Skiworld Representative on this train. Your Eurostar tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. Please keep your tickets in a safe place, as they cannot be re-issued.
Departure train stations by resort:
Courchevel, Meribel, Val Thorens: Moutiers
La Plagne: Aime
Les Arcs, La Rosiere, Tignes, Val D'Isere: Bourg Saint Maurice
There are luggage storage facilities at the front and rear of each carriage. You are responsible for stowing your own luggage and getting it on and off the train. Please make sure that your luggage is labelled and that your seat number appears on your luggage label.
Approximately 10 minutes before arrival at your destination, an announcement will be made to give you the opportunity to gather your belongings and prepare to disembark. You will be met at the appropriate station by a Skiworld Representative, or by a taxi or coach driver, for transfer to your resort. Please note that if you are met by one of the latter, a Skiworld Representative will be waiting for you on arrival into resort.
Your Skiworld Representative will transfer you from your resort to the appropriate train station.
For passengers on the Eurostar Direct Overnight service we aim to transfer you from your resort in the late afternoon. This is to allow for a meal in Bourg St. Maurice or Moutiers but more importantly to ensure that regardless of weather or traffic you reach the departure point in good time. If this train service is missed due to circumstances beyond our control, it is too late for you to secure other flights or train departures that night.
Please make sure you have your return ticket and passport with you.
