Winter Park is the nearest resort to Denver and the easiest of the Colorado resorts to reach; it has the best snowfall record of all Colorado’s major resorts with over 9 metres of superb snow every season. Straddling the Continental Divide, high in the American Rockies, Winter Park offers an amazing ski area of three big mountains and a bowl offering a variety of runs for all abilities. Winter Park is an affordable, convenient resort with a laid back atmosphere of genuine Colorado.

Winter Park includes Mary Jane, Parsenn Bowl, Vasquez Ridge and Vasquez Cirque ski areas. These mountains, each with their own unique character, are interconnected by ski trails and efficient lift systems. Vasquez Cirque offers some of the most extensive and challenging off piste whilst intermediates head for Vasquez Park or Parsenn Bowl. For beginners there is a dedicated beginner’s area called Discovery Park, with gentle runs, adventure trails and a first timer’s racecourse. For snowboarders there is the new Rail Yard Terrain Park with a variety of rails, hits and jumps for all abilities.

The town is one of the best value resorts in Colorado and is approximately 1.5 miles from the ski area linked by an efficient bus service. There is an unpretentious, friendly atmosphere to the town and a good choice of restaurants. The Shed Bar, in downtown Winter Park, is a popular choice whilst The Untamed Steakhouse at Wildcreek and Randi’s Irish Saloon feature live music throughout the week. Activities include dog sledding, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, ice-skating, cross-country skiing and even hot sulphur springs!
