Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth first opened in 1958 and has welcomed many royal and celebrity guests to its luxurious accommodations, hence where its name originates from .  Famous dignitaries have included Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, General Charles de Gaulle, the Dalai Lama, President Jimmy Carter, Joan Crawford and John Travolta to name but a few.  One of the suites, named John Lennon and Yoko Ono Suite, was the actual birthplace of the famous song “Give Peace a Chance”! The bedroom and living room contain photos and press articles of the famous couple when they wrote the song.

Description

The hotel is perfectly located in the centre of downtown Montreal, offering easy access to the shops, restaurants and cultural attractions.  It sits above the train station and enables guests to reach the underground system with ease.  The health club and spa offers a range of treatments and has a fitness area.  There is also an indoor heated pool, steam baths, and indoor whirlpool.

Several dining options are available at the hotel: Le Montrealais Bistrot-bar is a favourite of the locals and serves Mediterranean cuisine, Sunday brunch and afternoon tea; the Beaver Club is a fine dining restaurant serving dinner only; Les Voyageurs bar serves lunch and is more renown for its cocktails in the evening.
