Location

Hotel Pilier d’Angle is situated in the quaint hamlet of Entreves just outside the town of Courmayeur. The location provides a great base for skiers and outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for something a little quieter than Courmayeur as it is ideally located for access to the ski area. The cable car for the Mont Blanc Glacier is just 200 metres away and the Val Veny cable car to access the ski area of Courmayeur is only 300 metres away. For added convenience the hotel also offers a free shuttle bus for access to the ski lifts.

Description

The authentic and traditional hotel has been owned by the Pizzato family since its opening in 1970. The main hotel building, originally an alpine house and barn has been fully restored whilst still retaining the structure typical of ancient Val d'Aosta buildings. The visible stone exterior and wooden interior are both elements, which make this a characterful, warm and inviting residence.
There is a Serendip wellness centre including a Jacuzzi and sauna, as well as a variety of treatments and massages, which are payable locally. It boasts two panoramic terraces with stunning views of Mont Blanc, ski lockers and WiFi is available in the communal areas. The on-site restaurant ‘Tavern of Pilier’ was once a little cattle shed and is now an elegantly styled restaurant with stone walls, a roaring log fire and historic pictures from the region on the wall. There is also a cosy bar in which to enjoy a quiet drink. The restaurant serves local and regional dishes such as fondue of the Aosta Valley which uses ‘fontina’ cheese with stunning views overlooking Mont Blanc. Other facilities include a TV lounge with children’s movies, a meeting room for up to 80 people, reception open from 7am to midnight and a dry cleaning/laundry service.

Reviews

The hotel is set over three separate buildings:

The main building includes the reception area, two restaurants, two lounges and 10 recently refurbished rooms. Their country-elegant-style furniture, with wooded-beam ceiling and warm-coloured drapery, will make you enjoy a pleasant sensation of warmth and familiarity. Some of these rooms have the third or fourth bed on the mezzanine; some others are connecting rooms, which are ideal for families. All rooms are equipped with a flat screen TV and enjoy breath taking views of Mont Blanc.

The 2 other communicating structures are named Le Chalet and Le Foyer. Le Chalet is the second house and next to the main building, with 10 welcoming double/twin rooms most of which are on the ground floor. On the first floor are the superior apartment suites with 2/3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a spacious living room, providing large and elegant accommodation for big families or parties of friends.

The third building, Le Foyer is fully eco-friendly built and connected to the main building. The 4 elegant superior rooms share a large private garden and have a magnificent view of Mont Blanc.  Each unique room is furnished with ancient pine wood items, and features comforts, such as 26" LCD satellite TV and a safe.
